Tracy L. Smith, Paralegal

Tracy Smith has been a major cog in the HLF wheel since 2012. She attended Seattle Central College for general studies and went on to Edmonds Community College and took courses toward her paralegal certificate. Tracy has 30+ years of experience working in the legal field.  At various times and in various firms she has been: receptionist, file clerk, legal assistant, office manager, and paralegal. She has worked in many different legal arenas, including personal injury, family law, medical malpractice, employment law, probate, wills, estate planning and trusts, with her efforts focused on probate, wills, estate planning and trusts at HLF. She continues to stay current by participating in many webinars and seminars every year and especially enjoys meeting clients and helping them navigate through the legal landscapes most clients are not familiar with.

Tracy is a lively member of her community and has volunteered for years at her church and formerly at her daughter’s high school. She has assisted with managing various church and school fundraisers and serving as a Parent Association Treasurer, as well as being actively involved in the high school Music Department and Music Boosters. Tracy and her husband are very involved in marriage ministry and have served as Secretary, Co-Treasurers and Deputy, as well as being weekend presenters, leading classes three times a year to help minister to married couples who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship.

When Tracy isn’t at HLF or volunteering, she is spending time with her husband Ken and their (now adult) daughter Hannah, as well as their two adorable dogs, Chip and Chewy, and their two birds, Spike and Holly.  Tracy has a LARGE extended family and she is looking forward to grandchildren……..but not too soon!!. Tracy also enjoys cooking and has even been nicknamed “Martha Stewart” due to her outstanding skills in this field. The entire staff benefit from her legal experience and cooking/baking!

Chelsee Garrod – Paralegal

Chelsee Garrod (nee Fada) is the busiest staffer in the firm. She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor’s in Society, Ethics & Human Behavior and later went on to participate in the paralegal program at the same university. She helps everyone from the attorneys to the clients to the support staff with their broad needs, and does it with a smile! On the weekends and her extra time, she enjoys spending time with her family and new hubby Robert, cooking, and watching football, go Seahawks!

Karen Cooksey – Paralegal

Hawkes Law Firm welcomed Karen to our team at the beginning of 2018, making her our newest addition to the team. She grew up in northern New York but is a self-proclaimed “wanderer” and has lived in many different places, including New York, California and Florida, and now the Pacific Northwest! While in CA she earned her Bachelor’s in English and Women’s Studies from Cal State, Long Beach.

After moving to the PNW and raising her son, Karen obtained her Advanced Paralegal Certificate from Edmonds Community College and has been working as a paralegal ever since, with most knowledge in Family Law, Estate Planning and Probates (we believe she could do anything!). She hopes to soon add to her list many law-related extracurriculars.

In her spare time, Karen, her husband and young son are very involved in the Boy Scouts and her son’s school community. She also enjoys reading, cooking, and outdoor activities with her family, and traveling whenever she can!

We couldn’t be happier she is fitting in so well to our Hawkes team!

Mary Hegrat – Bookkeeper/Front Office Manager

Mary’s customer service experience has made her a promising front office manager and bookkeeper for our staff. Along with working full time at our office, Mary is also enrolled in classes at North Seattle College and is obtaining her degree in Accounting. In her spare time, Mary loves to snuggle up with a good book or go out with her friends to sporting events and concerts. Mary has proven to be an irreplaceable member of our staff!

Carol Jung – Front Office Lead

Carol is one of the newest members of our wonderful team here at Hawkes Law Firm. Her skills and experience in customer service, as well as being bilingual (both English and Korean) have made her our ideal Front Office Lead and legal assistant to our attorneys and paralegals. She has proven to be a great addition to our staff and a welcome presence at the front office!

Carol Brayer – Paralegal (Retired)

After 17 years at Hawkes Law Firm and 40+ years in the law business preceding her stint at HLF, Carol finally retired in 2015.  She and her hubby Bill Brayer now spend their senior “moments” enjoying each other’s company and their many kids and grandkids.  She was a brilliant presence and teacher at HLF for nearly two decades, and we will all miss her.  We also wish her and Bill great health and joy in their retirement.  And she has a standing invite to all HLF social gatherings.
