
Carol Brayer-Paralegal
Carol is a paralegal at Hawkes Law Firm, focused primarily in the areas of Entity Formations, Wills, Trusts, Estates and Probates. Carol also supports the attorneys in other practice areas as needed.
Carol Brayer began her legal career immediately after high school graduation as a receptionist/secretary/ trainee for a law firm in downtown Seattle, and continued working many years in the downtown Seattle and metropolitan areas. Carol’s education and hands-on training as a secretary and legal assistant, as well as her numerous years of experience in the legal field, finally led her to Hawkes Law Firm in 1997. Carol continues to perform paralegal work for Roger Hawkes, while mentoring new staff members. Although she looks forward to retiring and spending more time with her husband, five children and 10 grandchildren, Carol has always enjoyed the friends she has made at HLF and considers it to be her “work family.”
Outside of her legal career, Carol puts in many hours assisting her husband with his Multiple Sclerosis foundation. She is the co-founder of “MS Helping Hands-MSHH,” and continues to serve on its Board of Directors. She also chairs and/or actively participates in numerous MS-related events throughout the year, and shares her husband’s passion for helping those who suffer from debilitating diseases.
Renee Maurice-Paralegal
Renee C. Maurice is a Seattle Native who earned her Paralegal degree in 1980. She has twenty-five+ years extensive experience as a litigation paralegal and has been involved in all levels of State Courts and U.S. District Courts, including Washington and Alaska, UIM and Mandatory Arbitration forums. She joined Hawkes Law Firm in May, 2007 and enjoys being an advocate for people, especially for those who have little voice such as children and the elderly. Renee is a member of the King County Bar Association (Legal Assistant Program), the Washington State Association for Justice, and the Washington Employment Lawyers Association. Renee has attended numerous professional seminars with emphasis on Brain Injury, Elder Abuse, Soft Tissue Injury and insurance issues. Renee’s hobbies include spending time with her family, playing with her dogs, fishing, raising chickens and gardening.
Lisanne Hawkes-Executive Assistant
Lisanne graduated from Seattle University in 1974 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a certification in special education; she spent the next few years teaching school while raising her four children. In 1988 Lisanne worked for Hawkes Law Firm beginning as an independent contractor; eventually becoming the Executive Assistant. Lisanne enjoys family and is very active with six grown children and step children and many grandchildren. Lisanne also studies music, enjoys water sports, cycling, and traveling with Roger.
Karina Vega-Bookkeeper and IT
Karina is native to Seattle, Washington and has served Hawkes Law Firm in a number of capacities over the years. Currently Karina manages much of the accounting department as well as keeping our high tech computers, servers, copiers, phones and much more equipment running smoothly. Outside of work Karina enjoys spending quality time with her children, practicing martial arts, going to shows and many other activities.
Nataliya Piskorskaya-Office Assistant
Nataliya has worked part time for the firm since 2007 when she was a “Running Start” student which combines high school with community college. She still works part time while attending the University of Washington full time. She has been a very important part of the team. Nataliya assists everyone in the office with a wide variety of tasks and projects; she is a true asset. Outside of work and school, Nataliya enjoys hiking, gardening and traveling. She speaks Ukarnian and a lot of Russian, but at work, speaks English very well.
