Jamie Kim, Of Counsel

Jamie Kim attended college at the University of Illinois and majored in mechanical engineering, earning her degree in 1997.  She also traveled internationally and earned an International Studies minor.  She almost worked as a scientist for a major nuclear facility in Chicago, but felt the call to law school.  She graduated in 2002 from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and has been practicing law since then.

Jamie immigrated to the USA from Korea when she was 12; she speaks, reads, and writes Korean fluently.  Her personal and familial immigration experience provides her a special awareness and knowledge about immigration challenges.

Jamie enjoys camping, cooking, and hiking.  She also enjoys her young daughters, Joy and Grace.

Legal Experience

Jamie previously worked for the Cook County, Illinois, Attorney’s office and the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, as well as public defense offices in Seattle.

Jamie now concentrates on immigration law such as family, work and investor immigrations, and business law such as business/real estate purchases and sales and landlord/tenant issues, and administrative law such as appeals against WA governmental agencies. Prior to joining Hawkes Law Firm she gained extensive experience in criminal defense, contracts, and other civil disputes.
